Summer Reading Program

One World, Many Stories
June 13 - August 27, 2011

The Summer Library Program will consist of two parts, the Independent Reading Program and the Activity Sessions.  Sign-up begins on Monday, June 13.  There is also a Kiddie Parade on July 9.

Independent Reading Program
Begins on Monday, June 13 and is individualized and continuous, and is for all children ages 2 and up.

• On June 13, children can pick up their reading folder, put their traveling shape on the bulletin board, and begin to keep track of the time they spend reading or being read to.
• When the child returns to the library with their reading folder, the traveling shape on the bulletin board can be moved, and incentives will be earned.
• Super readers (those who complete more that 2 times around the bulletin board) will have the opportunity to earn more incentives.
• There will be a special reading folder aimed at kids who have completed 4th grade and above.
• Every week there will be handouts and a weekly guessing contest.
• The Independent Reading Program runs until August 27.

Kiddie Parade, Petting Zoo and Activities
Saturday, July 9

The Kiddie Parade is at 10:30am (registration starts at 10am)
Join the fun! This is a dress-up, let's make-believe, costumed event.  Best entries in each category will be determined by a panel of judges, but all participants are winners.

Register at the library anytime after June 13.  On the day of the parade, registration begins at 10am.  Register on the parking lot side the library.

The petting zoo and YMCA sponsored children's activities will be from 10am - 12 noon.
