4/15/2020 - Updates on Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) and River Falls Municipal Utilities Low Income Programming
Income qualification has changed. Eligibility is now based on the previous one month of a household’s income, rather than the previous three months. This is a permanent change.
The application deadline has been eliminated. Historically, applications for energy assistance were only taken between October 1 and May 15. For 2020, this deadline has been eliminated.
We adjusted our energy assistance eligibility requirements and processes as a result of the impacts of COVID-19. The application process can now be done via mail, online or over the phone depending on what county you live in. Energy Assistance provides bill pay support for heating costs, electric costs, and energy crises.
