​Description


Rate of pay: Minimum Wage

Responsible for general shelving of library materials.

Schedule:  Incumbent typically works a regular schedule of 10 hours per week.  This position is not eligible for benefits.Essential Job Functions

  • File, with precision, in numerical and alphabetical order.
  • Shelve library materials as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and other staff.
  • General knowledge of library circulation procedures and shelving system.
  • Perform other related work as assigned by Library Director and/or circulation staff.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and/or experience of library work helpful.

Qualifications & Working Conditions

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.

Work is performed in an office environment.  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to fingers handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and talk or hear.
The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
