​Library Page (Part-time)

Rate of pay:  $8.00 to $10.00 per hour 

This is an entry level position. Pages are responsible for unloading book drops, basic operation of the Automated Material Handling system, shelving and other routine daily tasks. Hours vary. Must be available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.  In general, this position works 10 hours a week and does not exceed 15 hours per week.

Essential Job Functions
Shelves materials as directed
Unloads book drop
Operates Automatic Material Handling system
Checks in material
Unpacks and checks in courier
Additional tasks as assigned
Complies with established rules of operation, procedures and policies of the City of River Falls and River Falls Public Library
Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patrons’ use of library materials, programs and services

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other City personnel and the public 
Demonstrate strong teamwork skills 
Exhibit friendly, courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with both internal customers and patrons
Must have strong communication skills and possess an ability to speak and communicate clearly during personal interaction
Must be receptive to training and redirection.
Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks.
Demonstrate ability to discern when to direct patrons to service desks
Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse patron population
Ability to accept and respond positively to coaching

Qualifications & Working Conditions
Must be at least 16 years of age or 15 with work permit

Knowledge of and/or experience with library work

Work is performed in the Library which includes exposure to computer screens. Primary functions require:
Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting 
On a frequent basis use hands, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk and hear
On a frequent basis must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk and reach with hands and arms 
Frequently lift, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine motor coordination including use of a computer keyboard
